“Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other season.”

The transition from summer to fall is a magical time of year in the Hudson Valley. The sadness of one season ending is replaced by the joy of another beginning. The rhythm of life slows to a more moderate pace. Crickets wrap up their nightly choir sessions and cool air ushers in the crispness of a new day.
Ironically, photographers rejoice in this seasonal change as well. More images are taking this time of year than any other. Hard to believe, but true. The rotation of the planet creates more angled light, elongated shadows emerge and the brilliant colors of sugar maples, red oaks and birch trees shift to the fall classics and the desire to photograph the changing landscape is undeniable.

Some of the best images will be found right outside your door. You won’t have to look far to find pumpkins, leaves of all shapes & sizes, morning fog and if you dare to boil the world down to the macro level (read: up close), water on a blade of grass or dew on a spiderweb are common this time of year.
