Summer is undisputedly the peak season for travel. Abundant sunshine and a warm breeze is intoxicating to the soul. The 12-week period spanning June to August is a panacea for parents and children alike. Daily routines shift, scenery changes and lifelong memories take root.
What I do find surprising as a photographer is summer is not the season where the most images are taken. You would think vacations and pictures lend themselves to claim the top of the photographic leaderboard. Nope. This honor is reserved for fall… you know, the time of year when duck boots, sweaters and leaf peepers rule the land. Hard to believe, but facts are facts.
I managed to unplug a wee bit this summer and found myself wandering through Northern Italy, Denver (CO), Montauk (NY), Ocean Grove (NJ) and Greenwich Village (NYC). All in all, a wonderful collection of culture, people & place.
For the record, when I say unplug, my Canon & Sony camera(s) are excluded from the concept. These items creatively enhance my life and provide the proper amount of balance to my existence here on planet earth.
Enough chit chat, let’s get to the pictures!
